The 2013 Vintner’s Private Reserve Chardonnay is a powerful and well structured Barrel Aged Chardonnay loaded with the flavours of lemon drops, honey and beautifully integrated oak.
100% Chardonnay from the 99 Block of the estate’s Vineyard. Our 80-acre Peninsula Ridge property encompasses 40 acres of vines designated the “Beal Vineyard”. Of which 25 acres were planted in the Summer of 1999 and an additional 15 acres planted in the Summer of 2001. The vines were imported directly from France and carry with them the clonal certification from the National Establishment for the Improvement of Viticulture, known in France as ENTAV. Ideally located on the western edge of the Beamsville Bench, a plateau of land considered by many to be one of the premier grape growing regions in Canada. The Beamsville Bench plays host to a multitude of unique mineral-rich soils and mesoclimates that influence the character of our premium wines. Preserving the quality of the harvested fruit, our winemaker continued his pursuit of excellence by a long, slow fermentation in stainless steel tanks then aged the Chardonnay in new French and American Oak barrels with weekly lees stirring for 12 months. The Result is a Chardonnay of the highest calibre, a wine to be labelled with the Blue House; a designation reserved for our superior wines. The 2013 Vintner’s Private Reserve Chardonnay is only the 4th such designated Chardonnay in 15 years. (previous vintages 2003, 2004 & 2007).
Enjoy this month with a Pumpkin Risotto or anytime of the year with a Squash Risotto. Pairs excellent with creamy pasta and roast chicken.
Ideal to cellar another 1 to 4 years.
