HELP SAVE THE BENCH |
Dear Friends of the Bench,
We’re writing to invite you to a community fundraiser on August 31st, in support of the Beamsville Bench Winery Association’s (BBWA) ongoing case at the Ontario Land Tribunal.
There’s a development proposal that could significantly affect the Beamsville Bench community — here’s what you need to know, and how you can help.
Since May, the BBWA has been an official party at the Ontario Land Tribunal, standing with the town of Lincoln to make sure growth at 5205 King Street happens the right way, in a manner that respects the land, the wineries, and the community.
The proposed buildings are nearly double the height the current zoning allows. Independent expert modeling shows that extra height would dam airflow, enough to create frost damage in Riesling and Chardonnay where none such risk exists today. Our experts in atmospheric science, viticulture, and planning all agree: this proposal, as designed, doesn’t fit here.
The good news is that we have a strong case, credible experts and real momentum. What we need now is our community behind us — and that’s exactly where you come in.
